Meet Majett Whiteside

Founder and CEO of Break the Hudl Sports

Majett Whiteside earned his Bachelors of Art in History at the University of California, Berkeley where he was also a collegiate football athlete. Earning both academic and athletic honors during his collegiate career, he was acutely aware that many talented high school athletes lacked access to the requisite tools necessary to take them to the next level. Determined to be the change, he set out on a path to apprise underrecruited athletes about opportunities to extend both their academic and athletic careers. His entrepreneurial path started with coaching high school football, when he accepted a position to coach both the offensive and defensive lines at Bishop O’Dowd High School in 2011. He was soon promoted to assistant head coach under former NFL player, Hardy Nickerson from 2011-2015. 

Coach Whiteside remained at Bishop O’Dowd for an additional 2 years after former NFL player, Napoleon Kaufman succeeded Coach Hardy in the head coaching position. In an effort to work with more inner city youth, Coach Whiteside made a lateral change in position to El Cerrito High School from 2016-2018. He then explored a new organizational change while coaching at Piedmont High School in 2018. Coach Whiteside founded Break The Hudl Sports as a culmination of his experiences and insights as a collegiate athlete, coach and mentor. Through Break the Hudl Sports (BTHS), he provides an opportunity for underrecruited, high school football seniors to earn D1-D3 and NAIA scholarships by utilizing an All Star game platform to highlight their athletic ability while assisting with NCAA academic requirements for college.

"My son was given the opportunity to be a part of this wonderful program. C/o 2017. Though our squad didn't take the win this year against the red Squad, we definitely took home a huge smile because of the opportunity that our son was given. He now has a new set of brothers that have similar goals to get into college and make a difference! Whether they are on the field and or pursuing their degree of interest. Thank you all so much to the amazing founder, the awesome coaches and those that volunteer in this program it has really boosted his excitement for his future endeavors. We had an amazing experience with Majett Whiteside from Break The Hudl Sports. Without his invaluable knowledge and advice our son would not have known how to navigate through the recruiting process and decision making process of college football recruiting. We probably would have made less beneficial choices if he had not given us advice both as parents and to our son as a player and student. He helped our son to improve as a player and student. He also guided him in making choices to better, not just his chances of playing college football, but his emphasis on getting a degree and a graduate degree if possible through these opportunities. His friendship has been invaluable as well as his wisdom.
